Globe Volunteers -Above and Beyond

On March 21, 2024 Randy and some friends were blessed by spending the day with some of the Globe volunteers working at the Rehoboth Children’s Center in Hawassa, Ethiopia. What a day it was.  We got to see up close and personal the work being done by our volunteers.  Two of them, , spend every day at the Center tutoring, celebrating special occasions like birthdays, taking them on field trips to a local park, and simply being an extra set of hands to help care for the kids.

While there we were able to provide shoes, clothes, and personal care items donated by Helen and friends from the States.  We always wish we could do more and one day we will.

Several things stood out that day.  The staff and volunteers are passionate about making sure the kids are loved and cared for.  Ato Addise has a strong vision for the children and their future and for the community the center is serving.  The vision and strategy go beyond the walls of the home.  He wants for every child to live in a good, Christian home with hopes it will be with their family, but if not then in adoption with loving Ethiopian families.  He knows to do so they must work with families where they live and help create a better future.

I’ll share more about the tremendous donation from the Regional Sidama government and what is needed to fulfill God’s plan for the children of Rehoboth and families in the community in a later blog.  In the meantime, we need to continue helping make Rehoboth the best place it can be for these precious little children.
