Humanitarian Need
Ethiopia faces a significant orphan crisis, with an estimated 5 million children living on the streets, in orphanages, or trapped in child labor1. These children are often victims of poverty, conflict, and disease, including the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS
Psychosocial Support
Orphans in Ethiopia often suffer from severe emotional and psychological trauma. Globe currently provides “parental” support for the children. We want to add training to help care givers (Globe and Orphanage employees) provide more support including Trauma Informed Care.
Opportunities
Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. Many organizations provide school supplies and support to ensure that orphaned children can continue their education. Globe provides tutoring now, and we want to allow “our” kids access to private education in the future.
Basic Needs and Healthcare
Globe works with local groups to supplement the ability of the center directors to care for all the needs of the kids, especially health care such as diapers, specialized feeding bottles, formula, hospital care when needed, school supplies. Community and Family Support
Reintegrating orphans into supportive community environments or extended family networks can provide stability and a sense of belonging is the long-term goal of Globe. This will take a team of professionals working in partnership with Center staff to get this done.
